Necromancer Epic 1.0 — Scythe of the Shadowed Soul
The Necro's 2-hand scythe. Dark-faction chain culminating in an undead plane raid.
The Necromancer Epic 1.0 rewards Scythe of the Shadowed Soul — a 2-hand scythe with lifetap proc and undead-control bonuses. The chain is heavily dark-faction aligned and one of the hardest Custom Combo chains for good-race Necromancers.
Reward
- Scythe of the Shadowed Soul — 2-handed.
- On-hit: Lifetap proc.
- Passive: Undead-control bonuses (pet durability).
Chain shape (approximate)
- Starting turn-in — Necromancer tower (Paineel, Neriak, or Cabilis).
- Dark-faction component phase — Heretics / Indigo Brotherhood / Crusaders of Hate turn-ins. Many components are pickpocket or specific named drops.
- Kunark step — named undead kill, often in Kaesora or Howling Stones.
- Plane of Hate or Plane of Fear step — raid-level named kill. The defining raid step of the chain.
- Final combine — necro-aligned altar (Paineel or Neriak).
Why this chain matters
The lifetap proc sustains Necromancer mana during solo play and adds off-rotation damage in groups. The chain also unlocks some of the most ornate necromantic lore in the game.
Custom race-class note
Good-race Necromancers face the hardest Custom Combo Epic chain. Paineel, Neriak, and Cabilis are all hostile to every good race. See Faction for Custom Combos. Plan for 100+ hours of faction grind before starting. Paineel is typically the easiest entry — kill specific Heretics-of-Paineel enemies in Toxxulia Forest.
