Erudite
The scholars of Odus — high intelligence, cold to strangers, split between two cities.
Erudites are the brain-forward branch of the human tree. They abandoned Antonica for the island continent of Odus, built two cities — one of light, one of shadow — and developed the strongest arcane tradition in Norrath. An Erudite who tells you their class is a Wizard is almost certainly a very good Wizard.
At a glance

Available classes
Cleric, Enchanter, Magician, Necromancer, Paladin, Shadow Knight, Wizard.
Erudites cannot roll melee — no Warrior, no Rogue, no Monk. They cannot bard. They specialize in arcane and divine casting, and the Heretics of Paineel are the only non-Shadow-Knight path into the dark arts for a non-Dark-Elf in the core races.
Cities of origin
Erudin is the larger, civilized city — twin towers over the western shore of Odus, proper libraries, proper banks, and the only Paladin trainer in the race. Good and neutral Erudites start here.
Paineel is the shadow city — a crater on the eastern side of Odus, carved by the Heretics who broke from Erudin over questions of whether death deserves the same academic rigor as life. The answer, for them, was yes. Necromancers, Shadow Knights, and the darker Clerics of Cazic-Thule start here.
The two cities are hostile to each other. An Erudite who travels one way will not be welcome the other.
Lore notes
The Erudite-Heretic split is the defining event of Odus history. It happened long enough ago that most citizens of either city treat the other as legend — until a traveling Erudite crosses the continent, at which point old factions remember everything.
Play note
Erudites are punishing at low levels — their 75 starting strength means you can barely carry your own training gear. Bring a porter friend, or roll a Magician and summon a Rod of Iron to push through the first few levels. By level 30 your mana pool carries you.
