High Elf
Proud, magical, long-lived — the marble-city branch of the elven line. Starts in Felwithe.
High Elves are the arcane-forward branch of the elves. They built Felwithe in stone rather than trees, revere Tunare through study and ritual, and hold the oldest continuous magical lineage outside of Luclin. The phrase "elven condescension" was invented specifically for this race.

Available classes
Cleric, Enchanter, Magician, Paladin, Wizard.
High Elves cannot roll melee classes outside of Paladin. Their class list is narrow by design — it's a caster race that allows knights, not the other way around.
City of origin
Felwithe (North and South Felwithe) sits in the southwest corner of Greater Faydark, behind a guard-patrolled gate and a long marble approach. The city is split between the Koada'Dal (good) in the north and the paladin / cleric practice areas in the south. Trainers for all five allowed classes live in Felwithe, and the Paladin trainer is one of the most popular on Norrath for its proximity to early dungeons.
Lore notes
High Elves consider themselves the First People, older than humans, more refined than the Wood Elves, and philosophically closer to Tunare than any other line can claim. The Dark Elves dispute all of this, fervently and with spells.
Play note
A High Elf Wizard or Cleric has the best int/wis curves in the game going into PoP-era content. For a first character, the Paladin path is forgiving — Lay Hands, symbol buffs, and self-heals cover a lot of new-player mistakes.
